Pathology Photography Department has seen monumental growth since being established in 1961. From its beginning as a one-man lab, the department has grown to 23 employees, many of whom are Registered Biological Photographers. Through the years, the facilities have also grown, from a one-room lab in the early 1960's to the present-day 13-room laboratory at the main medical school and three small satellite laboratories, located in CMSC, The Turner Bldg., and The Outpatient Center.
The department has also witnessed great financial growth. From early days of $6,000 annual working budget to the current yearly budget of $1.9 million, the Pathology Photography Department continues to flourish and expand. Looking to the future, as we continue to grow with computer graphics and digital imaging as well as high-tech computer-assisted photomicrography and multimedia presentations, the Pathology Photography Department continues to respect the past, maintain the present and look forward to the future. The QuickTime Audio below also describes the PathPhoto Department.
